12U (Majors) Baseball & Softball All-Star Selection Process

Per league bylaws, the selection process will proceed as follows:

  • Ballot Distribution & Voting Date: May 31, 2025
  • Eligible Players: All 10-, 11-, and 12-year-olds in the Majors Division

Voting Process:

  • Each Majors Division manager will receive a ballot listing all eligible players and will distribute them to their team.
  • Players may vote for up to eight (8) All-Star candidates. Self-votes are not allowed. Ballots with more than eight selections will be invalid.
  • Managers will vote similarly, but their votes will be weighted as five (5) points each.
  • Assistant coaches (two per team) will also vote, with each vote counting as three (3) points.
  • The top eight (8) players with the highest point totals will be automatically selected.
  • In the event of a tie, the Board of Directors will vote to break it.
  • The All-Star Manager will then finalize the roster (12–14 players) by selecting additional players in consultation with regular season coaches and the Player Agent.

10U Baseball & Softball All-Star Selection Process

The 10U selection process differs from the 12U format and will be based on tryouts.

Potential 11U Baseball All-Star Team

The league is currently exploring the possibility of forming an 11U All-Star Baseball team. More information will be shared if this moves forward.

Expectations for All-Star Players

  • Practice Commitment: Daily practices may be scheduled during the All-Star season.
  • Game Format: A continuous batting order will be used; all players will bat.
  • Playing Time: Playing time may vary. Managers will prioritize winning, which may affect field time compared to regular season games.
  • Development Opportunities: All-Star practices, scrimmages, and non-All-Star tournaments present significant development opportunities for all players.
  • Season Length: If your child is selected for one of the All-Star teams, they are expected to be available from the end of the York Little League season through early July 2nd for softball and July 13 for baseball, and possibly beyond if their team wins the district and qualifies for states.

Additional Baseball and Softball Opportunities

  • Post All-Star Tournaments: Optional tournaments after the All-Star season. Participation is not required but encouraged for more game experience.
  • KTB Baseball League (10U & 12U): A summer league offering games throughout the season.
  • Summer Softball: YLL is looking into the possibility of a twice-a-week York summer league for all little league ages. More information coming soon.

If you have any questions about the process or expectations, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We look forward to an exciting and competitive All-Star season!
